Why Christ Redeemer?
The Vision
One church, multiple congregations
We believe God has called us to multiply. That means not just growing larger in one location, but sending, starting, and strengthening congregations so more people can encounter the gospel.
Our vision is to see lives transformed by the power of the gospel, for the glory of God and the good of the Lowcountry. Our mission is to multiply the worship, renewal, and community of Jesus to the people and places of the Lowcountry and, through it, to the world.
We are becoming one church with multiple congregations — one on the island and one in Bluon. This model keeps us united in mission, leadership, and resources while placing us locally on mission in two communities.
Our name
Christ Redeemer
Throughout our study of Genesis, we see that God often changes a person's name when He entrusts them with a mission. Similarly, as we prepare to multiply congregations, we believe that God isn't just calling us to do something new but to become something new — a multi-congregational church whose ministry impacts and extends beyond the island and throughout the Lowcountry.
As such, our leadership sensed the need for our church to embrace a new name that reflects both who we are today and where God is leading us.
We wanted a name that is simple, memorable, and deeply theological — one that points away from ourselves and toward the only One we want to point to.
Our new name is:
Christ Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
That’s our legal name, but you’ll rarely hear us say it that way. Day-to-day, you’ll hear us use Christ Redeemer — whether that’s Christ Redeemer (Bluffton) or Christ Redeemer (Hilton Head).
Why this name?
Because in just two words it tells the gospel: Christ — our Savior and King and Redeemer — the One who rescues, restores, and renews.
In short, Christ Redeemer tells the gospel in two words — Christ our King, Redeemer our Rescuer — and unites Bluon and Hilton Head under one name, one mission.

We wanted a name that is simple, memorable, and deeply theological. “Christ” makes clear our allegiance to Jesus as Savior and King. “Redeemer” proclaims the good news: Jesus rescues, restores, and renews. Together, Christ Redeemer gives us a name that points away from ourselves and toward Him.

Our message, beliefs, and commitments remain the same. We’re still rooted in Scripture, centered on Jesus, and committed to our Reformed heritage. What changes is the way we present ourselves to the community: a clearer name, refreshed branding, and a unified identity for the mission ahead.
